Airspace

Wichita’s Class C sits amid the general-aviation manufacturing traffic that earned the city its Air Capital name, with McConnell Air Force Base tanker operations on its east side and restricted areas over Fort Riley near Manhattan. The Kansas City metro’s controlled airspace clips the state’s eastern edge, but most Kansas ground is uncontrolled.
