The Triangle's terrain transitions from rolling Piedmont in Durham toward flatter coastal-plain edges southeast of Raleigh, with longleaf and loblolly stands covering most undeveloped land — bare-earth quality on wooded tracts hinges on pulse density and, for hardwood bottoms along the Neuse and Eno, leaf-off timing. Hurricanes are an occasional fall wildcard; otherwise the flying calendar is generous.
Raleigh-Durham International's Class C sits squarely between the two cities — and directly over Research Triangle Park, so RTP campus work is LAANC-authorization territory by default. Horace Williams closed to traffic years ago, leaving Johnston Regional, Franklin County, and Sanford's field as the light-airspace GA ring around the metro.
Research Triangle Park is reinventing itself with projects like Hub RTP while biomanufacturing builds out around it: Fujifilm Diosynth and Amgen in Holly Springs, Novo Nordisk in Clayton, and Wolfspeed's silicon-carbide materials plant in Chatham County's Siler City megasite. Wake County's relentless residential growth — Apex, Fuquay-Varina, and Wake Forest rank among the fastest-growing towns in the state — supplies a steady diet of subdivision topo and utility-extension corridors.

Most Raleigh–Durham projects fall between $2,500 and $15,000 depending on acreage, vegetation, deliverables, and whether certified survey control is required. Small single-site scans start lower; large campuses and corridors are quoted per site or per linear mile. Send a KML of your site and we return an exact quote within 24 hours.
Because our FAA-certified pilots are local to the Raleigh–Durham area, most sites can be captured within days of contract — weather and airspace authorization permitting — without travel mobilization costs. Processed deliverables typically follow within one to two weeks depending on scope.
Our point clouds, DEMs, and contours are engineering-grade and drop directly into CAD, GIS, and BIM workflows. When a deliverable must carry a professional land surveyor's certification, we partner with licensed surveyors in North Carolina to provide it. Remote Optix Inc. and Pro LiDAR are not professional land surveyors and do not represent themselves as such.
