Drone LiDAR Scanning
Millimeter-accurate aerial point clouds captured by sensor-equipped UAVs.
// Coverage / WV
Engineering-grade aerial LiDAR anywhere in West Virginia — captured by FAA-certified pilots near your site, processed to one national QA standard, delivered in the formats your team works in.
01// Field Notes
West Virginia is the most consistently steep state east of the Rockies — narrow hollows, ridge after ridge, and hardwood canopy over the vast majority of its land. The November-through-April leaf-off stretch is effectively the bare-earth season, and drone LiDAR's ability to fly terrain-following lines over slopes ground crews struggle to walk is a bigger advantage here than almost anywhere.
Yeager International's Class C at Charleston is the state's main controlled airspace, with tower-controlled fields at Morgantown and Huntington. The National Radio Quiet Zone around the Green Bank Observatory imposes radio-transmission coordination unique to eastern West Virginia — a constraint our pilots plan for on work in that region.
Natural-gas infrastructure — gathering systems, compressor stations, and corridor work tied to Appalachian production — is the anchor demand, joined by surface-mine reclamation mapping and the long-running Corridor H highway build across the eastern mountains. State efforts to recruit data centers and reuse former mine lands are adding new project types.

03// FAQ
Most West Virginia projects fall between $2,500 and $15,000 depending on acreage, vegetation, deliverables, and whether certified survey control is required. Small single-site scans start lower; large or corridor projects are quoted per linear mile. Send a KML of your site and we return an exact quote within 24 hours.
Yes — Pro LiDAR contracts vetted, FAA-certified pilots across West Virginia, including the Charleston area. Because capture happens locally, you don't pay travel mobilization for most sites, and weather windows can be hit quickly.
Our point clouds, DEMs, and contours are engineering-grade and drop directly into CAD, GIS, and BIM workflows. When a deliverable must carry a professional land surveyor's certification, we partner with licensed surveyors in West Virginia to provide it. Remote Optix Inc. and Pro LiDAR are not professional land surveyors and do not represent themselves as such.
