Basin-and-range Nevada is a LiDAR pilot's friend: sparse desert vegetation yields near-perfect bare-earth returns without any leaf-off timing games. The real constraints are summer heat — density altitude and battery derating push flights to early morning — and afternoon winds funneling through the valleys.

Airspace

Harry Reid International's Class B dominates the Las Vegas Valley, with Nellis AFB and the vast Nevada Test and Training Range walling off much of the state's south-central airspace. Reno–Tahoe's Class C is the northern coordination point, and LAANC handles most metro authorizations quickly.

What's driving demand

Utility-scale solar on BLM land is a signature Nevada workload — sprawling desert sites where drone LiDAR beats ground crews on both cost and schedule. Add Las Vegas Valley master-planned development, the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center's data-center and manufacturing buildout, and gold and lithium mining volumetrics, and Nevada punches far above its population.
