Drone LiDAR Scanning
Millimeter-accurate aerial point clouds captured by sensor-equipped UAVs.
// Coverage / NV / Reno
Engineering-grade aerial LiDAR across the Reno area — captured by FAA-certified pilots who fly this market every week, processed to one national QA standard, delivered in the formats your team works in.
01// Field Notes
Reno's high-desert basin sits at 4,500 feet against the Sierra front: sagebrush steppe that captures beautifully, cut by the Truckee River corridor and rimmed with steep granite east of Tahoe. Density altitude and afternoon zephyr winds shape flight planning more than clouds do, and late-summer wildfire smoke drifting off the Sierra is the one seasonal factor that can idle a lidar-and-imagery combo mission.
Reno-Tahoe International runs Class C over the city center, and Reno-Stead to the north — a designated FAA UAS test-site airfield — anchors one of the most drone-friendly operating environments in the country. Military training routes tied to NAS Fallon cross the desert east of the metro, a coordination detail our pilots fold into TRIC-area planning.
The Tahoe Reno Industrial Center along I-80 at McCarran hosts Tesla's Gigafactory, Switch's Citadel campus, and a Google data-center site on tens of thousands of acres still being graded, trenched, and built out — a near-permanent source of large-area topo and volumetric work. Back in the valley, North Valleys warehousing, Spanish Springs growth, and Fernley's spillover industrial market round out a region expanding faster than its flood mapping can keep up.

03// FAQ
Most Reno projects fall between $2,500 and $15,000 depending on acreage, vegetation, deliverables, and whether certified survey control is required. Small single-site scans start lower; large campuses and corridors are quoted per site or per linear mile. Send a KML of your site and we return an exact quote within 24 hours.
Because our FAA-certified pilots are local to the Reno area, most sites can be captured within days of contract — weather and airspace authorization permitting — without travel mobilization costs. Processed deliverables typically follow within one to two weeks depending on scope.
Our point clouds, DEMs, and contours are engineering-grade and drop directly into CAD, GIS, and BIM workflows. When a deliverable must carry a professional land surveyor's certification, we partner with licensed surveyors in Nevada to provide it. Remote Optix Inc. and Pro LiDAR are not professional land surveyors and do not represent themselves as such.
