Drone LiDAR Scanning
Millimeter-accurate aerial point clouds captured by sensor-equipped UAVs.
// Coverage / OH / Columbus
Engineering-grade aerial LiDAR across the Columbus area — captured by FAA-certified pilots who fly this market every week, processed to one national QA standard, delivered in the formats your team works in.
01// Field Notes
Flat-to-gently-rolling glaciated farmland surrounds the metro, so the mega-sites east and north of town — former corn and soybean ground — capture quickly with minimal vegetation filtering. Stream corridors like Big Walnut and Rocky Fork thread wooded riparian strips through the development zone, and Ohio's persistent winter cloud cover matters for photogrammetry but rarely grounds a LiDAR flight.
John Glenn Columbus International's Class C sits over the east side of the city, close to the New Albany growth area, while Rickenbacker's air-cargo operations control the airspace over the southern logistics belt. Ohio State University Airport and Bolton Field frame the northwest and southwest, and LAANC handles the authorizations across all of it.
Intel's fab complex in New Albany headlines the market, but the surrounding New Albany International Business Park has drawn hyperscale data-center construction from AWS, Google, Meta, and Microsoft — a corridor of continuous earthwork, substation, and progress-mapping demand. Rickenbacker's inland-port logistics parks, Honda-related supplier activity, and housing pushing into Delaware and Licking counties keep the rest of the calendar full.

03// FAQ
Most Columbus projects fall between $2,500 and $15,000 depending on acreage, vegetation, deliverables, and whether certified survey control is required. Small single-site scans start lower; large campuses and corridors are quoted per site or per linear mile. Send a KML of your site and we return an exact quote within 24 hours.
Because our FAA-certified pilots are local to the Columbus area, most sites can be captured within days of contract — weather and airspace authorization permitting — without travel mobilization costs. Processed deliverables typically follow within one to two weeks depending on scope.
Our point clouds, DEMs, and contours are engineering-grade and drop directly into CAD, GIS, and BIM workflows. When a deliverable must carry a professional land surveyor's certification, we partner with licensed surveyors in Ohio to provide it. Remote Optix Inc. and Pro LiDAR are not professional land surveyors and do not represent themselves as such.
