Drone LiDAR Scanning
Millimeter-accurate aerial point clouds captured by sensor-equipped UAVs.
// Coverage / OR / Portland
Engineering-grade aerial LiDAR across the Portland area — captured by FAA-certified pilots who fly this market every week, processed to one national QA standard, delivered in the formats your team works in.
01// Field Notes
Portland's west hills carry dense Douglas-fir canopy over steep, slide-prone slopes — classic terrain for LiDAR's ability to strip vegetation and expose ground movement — while the valley floor and Columbia lowlands fly easy and flat. The real constraint is ceiling: persistent low overcast from November through April compresses the capture calendar, so we build Oregon schedules around the dry-season window and pounce on winter clearings.
PDX's Class C covers the river corridor while Hillsboro — one of the busiest airports in Oregon on flight-training volume alone — dominates the west side, with Troutdale and Aurora State rounding out the pattern work. The layout leaves the Sunset Corridor and Washington County fab country under active but well-gridded airspace our pilots clear routinely.
Intel's Ronler Acres campus and its ongoing fab construction anchor Hillsboro's Silicon Forest, pulling semiconductor suppliers and substation upgrades across Washington County with it — and the region's data-center gravity extends east, with Google's long-running The Dalles campus and Meta's Prineville site defining a Columbia-corridor market we serve from the same regional bench. Closer in, Port of Portland industrial land at Rivergate, I-5 corridor logistics through Wilsonville, and Clark County growth across the river keep the metro pipeline full.

03// FAQ
Most Portland projects fall between $2,500 and $15,000 depending on acreage, vegetation, deliverables, and whether certified survey control is required. Small single-site scans start lower; large campuses and corridors are quoted per site or per linear mile. Send a KML of your site and we return an exact quote within 24 hours.
Because our FAA-certified pilots are local to the Portland area, most sites can be captured within days of contract — weather and airspace authorization permitting — without travel mobilization costs. Processed deliverables typically follow within one to two weeks depending on scope.
Our point clouds, DEMs, and contours are engineering-grade and drop directly into CAD, GIS, and BIM workflows. When a deliverable must carry a professional land surveyor's certification, we partner with licensed surveyors in Oregon to provide it. Remote Optix Inc. and Pro LiDAR are not professional land surveyors and do not represent themselves as such.
